Hotel Schloss
am Meer

Originally used as a manor house, the castle by the sea had a very lively history. Discover with us the origins of our house on the beach front.

A hotel through the ages

A contemporary witness of German history

He was under the guardianship of his father, the forwarding agent Mr. Paul Bergmann (born 1882-1944). During the Second World War the hotel served as a military hospital for the Soviet command, but also re-settlers found accommodation there at short notice. On 31.07.1946 Hans Bergemann (son) sold to Mrs. Magarete Neitzel, née Grützmacher from Schwerin. Unfortunately, a reopening in 1946 could not take place, because the hotel was still occupied by re-settlers at that time.

Residence
directly on the beach

Mrs. Neitzel died on 03.02.1947, in her early 50s, and the business was completely closed down. Her heirs sold the property on 01.01.1948 to Mrs. Hertha Spenker, née Steffen from Rostock. She sold the hotel "Schloss am Meer" to the city of Rostock in 1948 for the purpose of setting up a children's home. The Volkssolidarität Rostock restored the dilapidated hotel and opened it as a children's home in 1949.
